The Salam Brands Group website features SLS, or Smart Language Switching. Salam Brands supports any language, regardless of charset or text direction (thanks to its UTF-8 encoding), as well as an elegant interface for managing content in multiple languages. But it doesn’t stop there: the site also guesses a user’s preferred language by sniffing browser settings for common languages. And, if a page isn’t available in the user’s preferred language, it attempts to find one in a similar language (e.g., Spanish -> Italian, instead of Spanish -> Arabic).
Another feature of the Salam Brands website is the ability to create partner company mini-sites. All of these sites use the same XHTML template, but stylesheets and graphics can be uploaded through the CMS to give each site its own unique look. By auto-detecting references to images within a stylesheet, the system prompts the designer for all of the graphics it needs, so the designer doesn’t have to rely on copius notes and guesswork.
